Nature Knowledge Day: Orienteering and Archery October 3rd, 9:30AM - 11:30AM
Nature Knowledge Day: Orienteering and Archery will be held on October 3rd, 9:30AM - 11:30AM at Rodgers Park. This event is geared toward 4th-12th graders.Discover the art of using a compass to unravel a riddle, and practice your archery skills in this two-hour session. Due to the nature of this program, it is best suited for kids in 4th grade and up.
Center Point Historical Society/Friends of the Library Doing a Thing about Ding
The Center Point Friends of the Library and Historical Society partner every fall for a Community Harvest Potluck and Program.This year’s program is a re-enactment of Des Moines Register political cartoonist and conservation leader Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling (1876-1962.) Tom Milligan of TKM Theatrical Productions in Amana plays the Pulitzer-Prize winning cartoonist.
Join Forces Book Club for Adults and Children
'Join Forces Book Club' is a new book club for Adults and Children ages 7-12. Reading teams will be matched with an adult and child to read the very same book. The members will meet up once a month during the school year to have a book discussion. The next scheduled event is Thursday, October 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the library!
CP Historical Society to hold 13th Annual Cemetery Walk Sunday, September. 29
The Center Point Historical Society will hold their 13th Annual Cemetery Walk on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.The Center Point Historical Society continues the tradition of an annual Sunday afternoon visit with late friends and neighbors in the Center Point Cemetery.Jacob Lemuel Floyd (1826-1905) will be portrayed by Jon Brendel; Smith Squiers (1856-1920) by Philip Andersen; Elsie Heverly Eller Condon (1892-1989) by Alex McClure; Virginia Sarchett Castek (1917-2010) by DeEtta Andersen; and Paul Roseberry (1913-2001) by John Stuelke.

Origami Paper Crafting Night October 17, 6:00 p.m.
Join us at the library to learn how to fold Origami flowers during our paper crafting night. Emily's Papercrafts will be on site to teach us how to make the flowers pictured. All materials will be provided, but space is limited. To register for the class email the library at: library@vintonia.govThis event is for adults, but children 12 and up may attend with an adult.
City Hall to Receive a Mural at Community Painting Party
The diagonal back wall of City Hall will be receiving a flowery paint job when community volunteers are invited in to paint it on Saturday evening, September 28, 2024. The mural, designed by Dandeena Schadle, will feature a variety of flowers and related nature items. A children’s “Under the Sea” mural, designed by Renae Patterson, will also be completed on a panel to be installed on the back wall of Pourville Art Studio & Gallery.
Vinton Class of 1952 to meet Saturday, September 14
The Vinton graduates of Lincoln High School will hold a class reunion for the Class of of 1952. The classmates will be celebrating with their classmates at a reunion on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Vinton Pizza Ranch located at 219 W. 4th St in Vinton. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Washington High School graduates from the class of 1979 will be holding their 45th Class Reunion!FRIDAY 9/20:Homecoming Football Game – Wear your colors. If you can fit into your letter jacket, band uniform, cheerleading outfit, or football pads, wear them! SATURDAY 9/21:The Vinton Cruise will be from 4-6PM. There’s a car show and vendors around the courthouse starting around noon.
